Craftsmanship
It’s what I do. It’s what I’ve done my whole career.
I started as a newspaper reporter, writing stories about life and issues in small towns, suburbs and small cities and state and federal government. I became an expert at research, interviewing, analyzing and processing tons of information to find the essentials for a good story, then translating it into content that makes complicated people and subjects into accessible, engaging and compelling stories through skilled writing and editing.
I took the skills gained in that profession and applied it to the nonprofit marketing and communications field. I started by helping small nonprofits who can’t afford their own communications staff with media relations and outreach. Later, I worked with the Citizens League to create their first strategic communications plan and managed 360-degree communications for them while supervising interns and coordinating a volunteer committee of marketing and communications professionals to extend our reach.
Most recently, I managed digital marketing and communications for the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundations, project managing two website redesigns while managing web, social media and B2C and B2B email marketing. I was also editor-in-chief for an award-winning B2C print magazine and executive producer for multiple video projects.
I am a Certified Digital Marketing Professional and Certified Professional Project Manager who can conduct stakeholder and need analysis, map out a project workflow, track its status, create and implement a digital marketing plan to meet business goals and more.
I’m motivated by mission and collaborating with great people to do great things. If your organization is exceptional and could use help telling its under-told stories to communicate value and increase support, I’d love to make something great together.
